MANILA - The Philippine unit of Southeast Asia's largest low cost carrier on Monday said it would cut flight frequencies to Puerto Princesa, Palawan next month because of the low season.
Philippines' AirAsia said flight frequencies from Clark to Puerto Princesa would be reduced to four times weekly from 10 times weekly effective September 1.
The Clark – Puerto Princesa route was introduced in April as the third domestic route after Davao and Kalibo, which were introduced in March.
Philippines’ AirAsia will now operate the Clark – Puerto Princesa route on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Flight timing for this route remains unaffected by this reduction of frequency.
Guests who are affected by this change will be offered the following options: a full refund of their flight bookings or a credit shell of the value of their flight bookings which is valid for three months
Also, the passenger has an option to change their flight date without any cost, subject to availability.
Besides Puerto Princesa, the airline flies to Davao, Kalibo, Kuala Lumpur, Macau and Hong Kong from Clark.
The airline had scaled down its passenger traffic target for 2012 to 600,000 from the original goal of 857,000 because of the delayed issuance of its airline operating certificate by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
Air Asia is a 60-40 joint venture between Filipino investors Mariane Hontiveros, Antonio Cojuangco Jr. and Michael Romero on the one hand, and Malaysia's Air Asia International Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of AirAsia Berhard on the other.
